The tariffs are designed to shield Egypt’s domestic steel industry from what the government describes as “harmful international trade practices” and excessive global supply pressures.
The announcement came during the Minister’s inspection tour of industrial zones and factories in the 10th of Ramadan Industrial City, Sharqia Governorate, aimed at reviewing production progress and addressing operational challenges.
The statement followed a meeting between Ahmed Samir, the Minister of Industry, and a delegation from the Russian holding company "Novostal M," led by its President, Ivan Demshinco.
